Gemma Pepper is a British artist and photographer living in Switzerland. Her artistic practice is characterized by collages of photographic portraits and snapshots. Always in search of the link between past and present, she explores the significance of photographs as aesthetic objects and cultural artifacts, receptacles of human nostalgia and memory.
Her “Silent Witness” series is the result of a meticulous investigation into an intergenerational family trauma spanning four generations. Gemma Pepper strives to unravel the profound repercussions of these events, in order to reinterpret the past and probe the implications of such trauma on the human psyche.
