Category

From May 11 to July 2, 2023, a tribute will be paid to Bruno Barbey (1941-2020), late member of the Académie des beaux-arts, with an exhibition of some sixty photographs from his work on Italians in the 1960s, at the Pavillon Comtesse de Caen, in Paris. At the age of 21, Bruno Barbey traveled throughout Italy with the idea of “capturing the spirit of a nation through images” and creating a portrait of its inhabitants. He is one of the first to have recorded this moment of historical transition, after the trauma of war and at the dawn of a new Italy.

The exhibition is curated by Caroline Thiénot-Barbey and Jean-Luc Monterosso, correspondent of the Académie des beaux-arts.
