From 17 to 21 September 2025, the Hungry Eye Fair returns to Amsterdam for its next edition. Formerly known as Haute Photographie, this leading boutique art fair offers a refined and inspiring experience for photography lovers.
As the largest photography fair in the Netherlands, Hungry Eye Fair presents a rich diversity of photographic styles and perspectives, bringing together international talent from across the globe, from Japan to South Africa, and from the United States to South America. The fair embraces the full spectrum of photography: from rare vintage prints to the very latest contemporary images.
This year, the spotlight is more than ever on emerging talent, photographers without gallery representation, many of whom will be exhibiting their work publicly for the very first time.
A platform for emerging voices
Curated by Roy Kahmann and his team, Hungry Eye Fair goes beyond the traditional art fair model. Instead of conventional gallery booths, visitors are immersed in a museum-quality exhibition featuring a carefully selected group of independent photographers from the Netherlands and abroad.
The aim: to create a platform where collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts can discover the next generation of image-makers.
New to this year’s edition is a dedicated section for young and debuting photographers. Many will be showing their work in a museum-like setting for the very first time, offering them the opportunity to share their vision with an international audience.
Also, with its strong focus on visual quality, storytelling, and presentation, Hungry Eye Fair delivers an immersive and intimate experience in a thoughtfully designed environment. Visitors can expect a hand-picked selection of photography that is authentic, innovative, and emotionally engaging. The fair attracts a broad audience: from seasoned collectors and museum professionals to passionate newcomers and visual culture enthusiasts.
The Bookmarket at Hungry Eye Fair
This year’s expanded Bookmarket celebrates the world of independent publishing. A vibrant mix of publishers working at the intersection of art, architecture, design, and visual culture will be present. The Bookmarket showcases experimental and socially engaged publications, giving visitors the chance to discover rare books and editions not easily found elsewhere. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a dynamic programme of book launches and signing sessions.
Hungry Eye Fair will take place at Door Open Space, a new creative venue in the NDSM district of Amsterdam Noord. Its inspiring, industrial backdrop perfectly complements the fair’s forward-looking spirit. In addition to the main exhibition and Bookmarket, the programme will include portfolio reviews, artist talks, and daily book signings.
The Hungry Eye Fair is on view from September 17–21, 2025 at Door Open Space, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
