It Starts in the Body

Featured in Obsession Gallery’s booth at Paris Photo, András Ladocsi’s research on the body reveals itself as an inquiry into physicality and human connection.

András Ladocsi titled his work “There is a big river, in which there is a big island, in which there is a lake, in which there is an island, in which there is a small house, where a life is growing in a womb.” After those words, he prefers to let the images speak for themselves.

Bodies of men, women, non-binary people of all ages are observed and contemplated with a combination of scientific curiosity and empathy, the latter representing the emotional core of the series.

A former competitive swimmer, Ladocsi carries into his photography an instinctive fascination for physical strength and motion. His sensibility captures traces of suffering, joy, tenderness, mapping a full spectrum of emotions, between birth and death.

András Ladocsi’s work is on view at Obsession Gallery’s booth at Paris Photo, until November 16.
