West Coast Punk Nostalgia

Nearly two decades after his first groundbreaking monograph “We’re Desperate”, photographer Jim Jocoy returns with his book “Order of Appearance”, a collection of never-before-seen photographs offering a glimpse of late 1970s and early 1980s punk culture.

The book digs into the emotional depth of a generation navigating love, loss, and disillusionment as the idealism of the Summer of Love movement faded. The photographer’s lens captures not only the defiant spirit of punk but also its tender, often overlooked, personal side.

In the words of singer-songwriter Thurston Moore, “The eye of Jim Jocoy finds beauty in the wild. His photography is always in service to the magic of the devious iconoclast, exhibiting dignity to the outriders.”

The book “Order of Appearance” is published by TBW Books and available at the price of 45$.
