Maya Goded Colichio: Wounded Landscape

Mexican photographer Maya Goded Colichio’s book “The Trail of the Serpent” guides readers into a visual and emotional journey across Central and South America, confronting the violence and social wounds endured by women throughout the region.

Born from a personal investigation into the author’s maternal lineage, the book traces several histories of displacement and survival. Maya Goded Colichio’s glance moves from the Atacama Desert to the jungles of Chiapas focusing on the quiet resistance of Indigenous women, healers and land defenders whose stories are marked by the scars of gender and colonial violence.

Mixing photography and oral testimonies, the book’s narrative unfolds through three interlocking booklets meant to be read together. At its heart, the serpent, an ancient symbol of transformation and feminine energy, winds through the pages as both metaphor and structural element, following a cyclical rhythm.

The book “The Trail of the Serpent” is published by Editorial RM and available at the price of €55.00.
