Dakar Cityscape

Andrea Ferro is the third prize winner of Meero’s photography contest, a competition entitled Meeropolis and launched among the company’s photographers community, with a focus on the city where the participants live.

Upon moving to Dakar, Senegal, photojournalist Andrea Ferro started carrying his camera with him while he explored the city. His attention was caught by people going by their daily life in a cityscape undergoing quick and radical changes.

Without aiming at describing the complexity of a city like Dakar, his photography focuses on a topic now at the centre of public debate: “uncontrolled constructions rising in every corner, destroying the coastline, and the logic of profit prevailing over everything else.”
