On the Other Side of the Street

Brice Gelot is fascinated by human beings and their multiple dimensions. In this photo collection, the self-taught French photographer highlights the other side of the street : the shadowy one, the one we don't see. The one we don't want to see.

Fully involved in the culture of the outcasts, Brice Gelot takes pictures of gangs and their tattoos, wild graffiti and their isolated neighbours, using an analog camera. From rough areas to poor neighbourhoods abandoned by society, the photographer's goal is to "show the world as it is, because nothing is more interesting than reality."

A long way from postcard photographs, Brice Gelot exposes a complex reality, with two faces: one tough and the other more candid. A manichean vision where he meets Sartre's "other", facing an abysmal background.
