5 photo contests not to be missed!

The famed awards, which come up in springtime, are eagerly anticipated, much talked about, and coveted all year round. To kick off the new season, we have handpicked a few of these must-enter contests!

1. The most prestigious: Grand Prix Images Vevey

This award aims to support contemporary photographic creation. It allows one artist to develop, during the award year, a project which will be featured at the next edition of the Festival Images Vevey in September 2020.

The jury includes such distinguished figures as Dayanita Singh (artist), Lesley A. Martin (Aperture Foundation), and Christoph Wiesner (Paris Photo).

To top it off:

• a prize of 35,000 euros

• an exhibition at the Festival Images Vevey.

Application deadline: February 28.

2. The hottest: the Picto Fashion Award

For its 21st call for applications, the Picto Award committee decided to change the dates and distribute awards in spring, to coincide with the Fashion Week in Paris.

The lucky prizewinners will be amply rewarded:

• exhibition-quality prints;

• access to a professional photo studio;

• presence in advertising spaces around Paris;

• entry into the public collection of the Palais Galliera—the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris and the Picto Foundation endowment fund.

Application deadline: February 28.

3. The most exotic: Photography residencies at the Musée du Quai Branly

Since 2008, the Musée du Quai Branly–Jacques Chirac, has run a program of photography residencies which allows one, or several, photographers from any of the four continents represented in the museum’s collection (Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and Oceania) to develop an original project consistent with their personal aesthetic journey.

This program helps promote the work of artists who have had little visibility in France by financing a portion, or the totality, of a creative project. The prints produced as part of this program enter the museum collection at the end of the residency.
