Bending Reality

A retrospective of Luxembourgish photographer Romain Urhausen’s work celebrates his surrealist glance on life unfolding around him.

Prolific as a photographer in the 1950s to 70s, eclectic artist Romain Urhausen worked also as a sculptor, architect and designer. His photography covered a wide range of interests, applying a unique aesthetic to a variety of mundane subjects like factory work, street photography and daily life.

The high contrast of his black and white, the geometrization of visions coming from the natural world and a strong taste for the absurd shape the grammar of these very special photographs.
