When City Life Pauses

In Dark Cities, Lyn Saville photographs urban landscapes at dawn and twilight.

Her photos are in stark contrast with most of the crowded sights that populate the collective image of areas like Manhattan and Brooklyn. Human beings are scarce, ghostly presences, and the silence evoked by the images might be broken by the sound of a lone car at a distance.

Lynn Saville focuses on architecture as a sign of the city’s transformation due to social and economical dynamics, and “the boundary times between night and day” as she describes them, seem to be moments when the urban fabric, free from the activities of the day, can best reveal itself.

The exhibition Dark Cities by Lynn Saville is at Alessia Paladini Gallery until March 26. For more information and related events visit
